Since the release of ChatGPT (Nov 2022) the amount of bullshit generated about AI is still growing. One can find literally any type of crap out there and (of course) the most popular ones are repeated endlessly. One can’t help but conclude – this is the standard mass madness. Mass madness practiced by the hollow noobs that know nothing and don’t want to know a thing.
There are several, exceedingly obvious, reasons that make the above statement a fact, not an opinion. First – simultaneously we have no and a thousand definitions of intelligence, even so there is no intelligence in AI. There is Linear Algebra, Probabilities, Statistics. Yeah, Mathematics, the one discipline still despised by the “Why would I need that?!” type who seems to be the most vocal fans. Love the irony. So – no intelligence in AI and – no concept of ‘knowing’. An LLM doesn’t know shit but relations between words and numbers (weights) and their most likely distribution in a sentence. In that regard we not only do not know what intelligence is (strangely we know the lack of it) but also have zero clue how language is acquired, what it takes for it to develop and how it came to be. Second – consciousness. Add this to the “We have no clue” mix. We don’t know what consciousness is, we know when one isn’t consciousness, we know that this brain center most likely serves that purpose and this one – another. We know a lot about the brain yet not much about consciousness. Probably because both consciousness and intelligence tend to be closer to philosophical concepts rather than scientific ones which by the way make scientists feel uneasy (for a good god damn reason) while the general public simply ignores or runs away – guess because after Maths probably Philosophy is the most despised discipline.
To have something that is “Smarter than humanity” (what a bullshit, meaningless set of words), that “something” does need to have some consciousness and to interact with its surroundings. For that interaction it needs limbs, sensors (eyes, nose, tongue, skin & etc). Does an LLM have that? Nope. Far from it. In that regard a horny flea is more intelligent and conscious than any LLM. AGI is pure marketing bullshit, a way to get the clueless hyped and pump up valuations of “startups” which are meant to burn through the cash and die off.
No worries children – there won’t be an AGI anytime soon. First we have to figure out few other concepts. Not totally of course, hell we haven’t figured out electricity in its whole but this does not stop us from using it. Nevertheless – all AGI talk today is bullshit, rest assured, it is pure crap. Doesn’t matter from whom it comes – if one is talking about AGI like it is the next big thing – that person is either lying outright or is a retarded moron.
